The Polaris RZR models we ride in Dubai

“RZR” (pronounced “razor”) is Polaris’s family of sport side-by-sides. Our guests drive two main versions. Engine figures below are the manufacturer’s published numbers for these model lines.

Polaris RZR XP 1000 – the all-rounder

This is the buggy on our 30-minute and 1-hour Polaris rides, in 2-seater and 4-seater versions. It has a 999 cc twin-cylinder ProStar engine with roughly 110 horsepower, an automatic gearbox and long-travel suspension. In plain terms: plenty of power to climb the red dunes, but smooth and predictable enough that a first-time driver feels in control within a few minutes. It is the reason the RZR is the most popular first buggy in Dubai.

Polaris RZR Pro R – the flagship

The RZR Pro R is Polaris’s most powerful sport model. Its 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine is rated at up to about 225 horsepower, with a wider stance and much longer suspension travel than the XP. Our Stage 4 RZR Pro R Ultimate tour uses the 4-seat version with electronic power steering (EPS), which keeps the steering light even on big dunes. It is a completely different level of performance – best for confident drivers who have tried a buggy before.

Which Polaris RZR ride should you book?

• “We just want to try it” – couples: the 30-minute RZR couple ride (AED 300).
• Families with children: the 30-minute RZR family ride (AED 400) – one adult drives, everyone rides together.

How your Polaris RZR ride works

1. Book on WhatsApp with your date, group size and preferred RZR.
2. Arrive or get picked up. Our rides take place in the red dunes off the Dubai–Hatta Road. Arrive 15 minutes before your slot.
3. Gear up – helmet, goggles and scarf.
4. Briefing and practice – controls, hand signals and how to climb and descend a dune.
5. Into the dunes behind your guide, with the pace building as the group gets comfortable.
6. Photo stop on a high viewpoint.
7. Back to base for water and a rest – and drop-off if you booked a transfer.

RZR driving tips from our guides

1. Use smooth, steady throttle. The RZR responds quickly. Gentle pressure gets you up a dune; stabbing the pedal makes the wheels spin and dig.
2. Keep momentum on climbs. Choose your line, keep a steady speed and go straight up. Slowing halfway is the most common reason a buggy stops on a slope.
3. Lift off before the crest. Ease the throttle just before the top so you do not launch over a ridge you cannot see beyond.
4. Straight down, gentle brakes. Point the wheels straight down a descent and let the RZR roll with light braking. Never turn sharply on a steep face.
5. Look ahead, not at the bonnet. Follow the guide’s tracks with your eyes and your hands will follow.
6. Leave a gap. Stay far enough back to see the buggy in front and its tracks, especially in sand clouds.
7. Harness on, hands in. Both hands on the wheel, arms inside the cage, harness fastened until the buggy has fully stopped.

Safety, licence and who can ride
